Episode 1: Leap of Faith

Scared, excited, and nervous, we all set foot in this exclusive pool of the final year graphic design grads, taking a leap of faith as we officially start with our thesis by giving a 15-minute presentation to our peers, telling them about our theses.

Everyone did amazing! It’s always exciting and inspiring to see how many different directions graphic design can take. One of my favorite things is always the feedback and critique I get from everyone. My main takeaways from the presentations were:

  • Keep in mind what I am writing for my thesis, because I might have to filter things out. So, be mindful of not doing more work than I absolutely must. Think smartly about what will end up going into my thesis and being ABSOLUTELY sure of it as much as I can.
  • While developing visuals for my trailer, I don’t have to necessarily stick to ONE output. I can think of various ways those visuals can be represented: wall projections, different motion graphics playing on different platforms, different perceptions of the visuals, conceptual and direct being two different trailer approaches, and the different ways they can be shown (by kind or duration, or context)

Another neat little thing that I came across was this resource that one of my peers shared with me:
It is a game called Comix Zone from the year 1995, that they shared with me as something that could be interesting for me to look into.
